I coach creatives: writers, artists, designers, musicians, makers. Most of them are skilled professionals, but after they speak about pitching concepts or selling their work, they usually use phrases like ‘badgering’, ‘pestering’ and ‘nagging’.
They don’t see themselves as providing a service that might assist their shoppers, a mutually useful collaboration. As an alternative, they view themselves as begging, needy, powerless. Or as unpleasantly pushy.
This can be a mistake many people make.
It stops us sharing, exhibiting, promoting our work. We conceal. We’re timid and well mannered. We fear an excessive amount of about what folks will suppose. We’re fearful of coming throughout as boastful, pushy, stuffed with ourselves.
