China blocks use of Intel and AMD chips in authorities computer systems, FT reviews By Reuters

(Reuters) -China has launched pointers to part out U.S. microprocessors from Intel (NASDAQ:) and AMD (NASDAQ:) from authorities private computer systems and servers, the Monetary Occasions reported on Sunday.

The procurement steerage additionally seeks to sideline Microsoft (NASDAQ:)’s Home windows working system and foreign-made database software program in favour of home choices, the report mentioned.

Authorities businesses above the township stage have been advised to incorporate standards requiring “protected and dependable” processors and working methods when making purchases, the newspaper mentioned.  

China’s trade ministry in late December issued an announcement with three separate lists of CPUs, working methods and centralised database deemed “protected and dependable” for 3 years after the publication date, all from Chinese language corporations, Reuters checks confirmed.

The State Council Info Workplace, which handles media queries for the council, China’s cupboard, didn’t instantly reply to a faxed request for remark.

The U.S. has been aiming to spice up home semiconductor output and cut back reliance on China and Taiwan with the Biden administration’s 2022 CHIPS and Science Act.
